Organic agricolture came into being around 1924 thanks to the work of the Austrian scientist and philosopher Rudolf Steiner.
Organic agriculture is a holistic approach to cultivating the land. Steiner’s method treats the earth as a living organism and seeks to rejuvenate it in order to produce food which is full of life and deeply nutritious.
The only form of fertilizer allowed is organic fertilizer. This means that human intervention is reduced to the minimum so that nature can follow its course and thereby strengthen its natural balance.
Luca D' Attoma about Biodynamic
I first came across organic agriculture in 2000 when I met François Bouchet, an authority on organic agricultural techniques and consultant for prestigious French companies.
François had a great influence on my understanding of how the natural balance between the earth and its life forms comes into being in winemaking.
With François and thanks to his guidance my vineyard project, called "Duemani" together with Elena Celli has taken shape in Riparbella, on the coast in the province of Pisa, Tuscany.
The entire project has been based on organic agricultural techniques and here we produce three red wines:
Altrovino- Merlot and Cabernet franc
Duemani- Cabernet pure
Suisassi- Syrah pure
Apart from widening my professional scope of expertise, the study of organic agriculture has made me think in a less conventional way, providing me with further insight into winemaking which I can share with those who like me create wine and share my love for this world.
